Who was Rachel Turner?
Big sister to Nathan and Lauren, Rachel Macaylee Turner was the adored daughter of Susan and Leon. Her drive, tenacity, and curiosity propelled her to remarkable academic accomplishments and paved the way for her unbounded future success. She majored in business administration at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo after graduating from Malvern Collegiate Institute.
Rachel made the most of her time at university by being involved in a variety of groups and events, such as Laurier’s student-run Mighty Hawks program, where she assisted in preparing young adults with developmental disabilities for the workforce. Rachel was about to reap many of the greatest blessings in life. She used yoga, meditation, and writing to cultivate mindfulness. She loved baking, cooking, reading, and going to the gym.
About Rachel Turner
Rachel was an advocate of living in the present and would talk to everyone. She looked for the positive in everyone and valued human connection. Before starting her profession, Rachel decided to take another trip after graduating from Laurier. She made the best decision of her life in January of this year when she and her soulmate Matt decided to travel to Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia for seven months.
After the trip, Rachel was happier than ever when she got home. Every grin and every photo reflects their genuine affection. Rachel was a thoughtful, selfless, compassionate, kind, and brilliant person. In order to rescue five families, she signed her organ donor card as her last act of selflessness. We will never forget Rachel’s spunky, vibrant, and unforgettable smile; she was a wonderful soul.
