Madelein Lopez-Resendiz, a 25-year-old resident of Pelion, South Carolina, and a loving daughter and sister has tragically passed away. Madelein was identified by the Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as the woman who passed away as a result of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on October 19, 2024, at around 7:10 p.m.
The collision occurred in the 100 block of Hartley Quarter Road, which is located in the Pelion neighborhood of Lexington County. It was while Madelein Resendiz was walking westbound on Hartley Quarter Road that she was struck by a car that was also travelling westbound on Hartley Quarter Road, as stated by the Coroner Fisher.
Since Ms. Lopez-Resendiz had incurred injuries as a result of the collision, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver did not come to a stop and ran away from the scene. Investigations into the incident are still being carried out by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team.
